MEDICAL RADIATION PHYSICS
FOR SURGEONS NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE
The Commission on Cancer and the American
Joint Committee on Cancer have announced the release of a new four-part
Web-based series called Medical Radiation Physics for Surgeons through
its Online Education Center. The four-part series includes: Part I:
Radiation Dose, Risk, and Safety for Surgeons; Part II: Image Quality in
Screen-Film Mammography; Part III: Digital Imaging for Mammography and
Stereotactic Breast Biopsy; and Part IV: Stereotactic Breast Biopsy Quality
Control for Surgeons.
The series includes synchronized audio and
slides and a written transcript. The sessions can be viewed at one’s own
pace, starting and stopping whenever one chooses. Viewing this series and
passing the corresponding post-test will enable surgeons to fulfill the
requirement for four category 1 CME credits in Medical Radiation Physics as
stipulated by the American College of Surgeons Stereotactic Breast Biopsy
Accreditation Program.
To review the detailed information about each
of the four presentations in this series, go to http://www.facs.org/cancer/webcast/index.html
and select the link “Stereotactic Breast Biopsy: Medical Radiation Physics for
Surgeons.” Interested users can then click on the “Register, Purchase,
and View Webcast” link. Purchasers are required to view the entire
series of Medical Radiation Physics for Surgeons presentations before the
50-question post-test can be accessed and taken to earn CME credit. The
fee for this series is $200 for all registrants.
